Synopses

#1: Kuukua and the Magical Markers

Kuukua Annan is exasperated every time she hears an Ananse story. When she’s marked down in an African Storytelling assignment just for being more original, she decides to teach her English teacher a lesson. Unfortunately, she soon discovers that Kwaku Ananse is someone she can never truly escape.

#2: Kuukua and the Twisting Tablecloth

Kuukua Annan’s annoying uncle Vincent comes to town for Easter. After one too many slights against Kuukua and her nuclear family, Kuukua decides to shake some tables during a formal Resurrection Sunday lunch.

#3: Kuukua and the Haunted Hair

Kuukua Annan visits an unfamiliar hair salon for the first time, unprepared for the shade that the hairdressers throw at her in Twi, assuming she will not understand. That’s when Kuukua decides that these employees deserve a bit of shaking up.

#4: Kuukua and the Sliding Sneakers

Kuukua Annan and her friends attend a leadership camp over the long vacation where division reigns among the students. Kuukua and her best friend, Yaw, seize an opportunity to bring enemies together… whether the enemies like it or not.

#5: Kuukua and the Cavorting Cups

In the new environment of boarding school, Kuukua Annan’s friend, Kess, struggles under the weight of bullying. With the help of her boyfriend, Yaw, Kuukua decides to put an end to it.

#6: Kuukua and the Difficult Doors

As the first mid-semester break approaches, it’s hell week for Form 4 students, with back-to-back class tests. With everyone besides Kuukua Annan in danger of bombing, the young trickster decides to put a cog in some maths teachers’ plans.

#7: Kuukua and the Whistling Woodmen

It’s late October, and Kuukua Annan and her friends are stuck babysitting uncontrollable children during their mid-semester break. When the kids refuse to behave, Kuukua decides that they deserve a healthy scare to rein them in.

#8: Kuukua and the Killjoy Kente

The principal of Kuukua Annan’s new boarding school has some thoughts about the school’s annual Christmas traditions. It’s up to Kuukua and her friends to overshadow a white Christmas with some Ghanaian colour.
